The Rockhoppers have been an active and sociable part of the London based climbing scene since 1954. We have had a vast array of climbers and walkers pass through our ranks over the years and we still boast a membership of over 250, a very large proportion of whom are active participants throughout the year.
Our members cover the full spectrum of mountaineering from Lakeland hill walking to Andean Mountain climbing, top roping at Harrison's to 'E' numbers on Table Top Mountain, to mention but a fraction of what we get up to.
We exist to bring together people interested in hill-walking, rock climbing and mountaineering, and to provide opportunities to participate in these activities. We are a very sociable and friendly club, with members from a wide variety of backgrounds who don't just talk about climbing all day long!
Like most well established clubs we have a formal constitution (PDF) which lays out what we're here for and how we run our committee, accounts and that sort of thing.
Our Annual General Meeting is held in October of each year. The primary function is to elect a new committee and decide on the meets list for the following year.
Interested? Come to one of our pub nights and find out more, or contact a committee member for more info.
We are affiliated with The BMC and agree with its participation statement:
The BMC recognises that climbing, hill walking and mountaineering are activities with a danger of personal injury or death. Participants in these activities should be aware of and accept these risks and be responsible for their own actions and involvement.
