We are staying at Turner Hall farm, in the wonderfully wild Duddon Valley, in the southern Lakes. Climbing in the valley includes classic routes of all grades on Dow crag and Wallowbarrow crag, whilst walkers have a wide range of options including The Old Man of Coniston and Scafell Pike. Handily, the Newfield Inn (visited by Mr. Wordsworth himself) is just down the road, or there is the Blacksmiths Arms (dating from 1577) in Broughton Mills.
